Te Riroriro

Episode 1 - Te Riroriro (True Story). 

A close uri of mine locked up all the doors and windows at the marae after a wānanga, unaware that she was cutting off all avenues of escape for herself. Something ancient, an entity not of this world, stood silently on the marae ātea, watching and waiting like a hunter. It was a presence that would normally stay in its realm, but for some reason, it was moving openly and freely, breaking the unspoken pact that keeps the realms of the dead and the living apart. As the last door was locked, she saw something out of the corner of her eye. Despite her instincts to run, she did what every Māori would do – she made the mistake of taking a closer look.
